Chaplain Wendell A. Russell ('48) passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. After serving Nazarene pastorates in Childress, Nocona, Perryton, and Killeen, he became a chaplain at Austin State Hospital. In 1971, Chaplain Russell and family relocated to Indianapolis, Ind., where he began his long chaplaincy for the Veterans Administration Medical Centers there, then in Waco, and finally Marlin. He enjoyed preaching, counseling, and other areas of ministry. In his free time, Chaplain Russell enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. A high point was a trip to the Holy Land with wife, Mary, in 1995. His gentle spirit, generous heart, example of Christlikeness, and sense of humor will be sorely missed. (1/09) |

Dr. Travis ('49) and Mrs. Helen (Overmyer, '50) Mullins recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were honored by their children with a dinner with a nostalgic flair. Travis and Helen met in the registration line at Bethany Peniel College. The Mullins were married on August 7, 1948 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They decided Bethany would be a great place to start their Christian home and have remained here their entire married life. (1/09) |
