Program Mission Statement
Southern Nazarene University educates athletic training students for responsible Christian living with the contexts of the liberal arts, Wesleyan-holiness theological perspective and a cross-cultural community life. The goal of the program is to provide Christian leadership in the profession of Athletic Training serving a diverse population. In keeping with the Southern Nazarene University mission the Athletic Training Program integrates faith, learning and life.
Program
The Athletic Training major provides both the academic and clinical preparation for the graduate to sit for the certification examination by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification. Upon acceptance into the program as a sophomore, the 3-year, 1000 hour clinical experience begins. The program offers diverse education experiences with local high schools, universities, private clinics and professional sports. The SNU Athletic Training program gained accreditation with CAAHEP in January 2004.
Facilities and Equipment
The academic facilities in Broadhurst Gymnasium include state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratory for athletic training education. The well equipped laboratory houses the latest in modalities and rehabilitation equipment. The main SNU atheletic training room is located in the new multi-million-dollar Sawyer Center. SNU also has three additional satellite athletic training rooms for students to gain clinical experiences.
