Beth and Curt were married July 7, 2007. Curt Luthye has been a missionary for the Church of the Nazarene since August 2001. He has served the people of the Caribbean as Work & Witness coordinator since January 2002. Other ministry opportunities have presented themselves during the years, and Curt has taken on a range of additional responsibilities, including webmaster and developer for the www.caribnaz.org and www.caribbeannazarene.org sites and other communications ministries. Curt also serves as the regional coordinator of special events and projects and was the interim NYI coordinator during 2006. That year, he also assumed responsibilities as the Caribbean Dutch Field strategy coordinator. The Dutch Caribbean includes Suriname, Aruba, St. Maarten, Bonaire, and Curaçao; the Church of the Nazarene currently has congregations in Suriname and Aruba. In 2007, Curt also began assisting with the partnership program in the Caribbean region.
Curt graduated from Southern Nazarene University with a B.A. in religion. He received an M.Div. from Nazarene Theological Seminary. Prior to his appointment, Curt served from 1996-1997 with Nazarenes in Volunteer Service in Italy.
Beth has a heart for people and for seeing them come into a deeper and fuller relationship with Jesus. Before joining Curt in his ministry in the Caribbean, she worked in Christian publishing as editor and editor in chief for various magazines, seeing these opportunities as ministry to far-reaching audiences. Prior to that, she taught high school English in the public school system in Nashville, Tennessee.
Beth graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.A. in English, and she received an M.A. in English Literature from Florida State University.
Beth has also served as a volunteer two summers in Sarajevo, Bosnia, where she taught English as a Second Language and worked at a distribution center serving refugees there. She has continued to volunteer at home with numerous ministry-related organizations focused on serving people in need.
Curt enjoys guitar, soccer, and reading. Beth enjoys reading, running, and the outdoors. Together they enjoy friends and traveling, photography, good food, and Skyping each other from the same couch.
