Teacher Education Handbook

(To download the handbook, please click HERE.)

This Handbook is designed for students and advisors. It is very important that sequential information about all aspects of teacher education be understood. The complete book, which will be used largely be advisors, contains information from pre-admission to licensure/certification and residency year. Basic requirements for general education, specialty studies and professional studies have been mandated by the Oklahoma Department of Education. These basic requirements comprise a broad fifty-hour requirement for general education. In professional education, thirty hours are required. A minimum of forty hours is required in the specialization. Some programs require more. All programs are approved by the State Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

This Handbook is organized into sections and will be distributed to students during the professional education sequence of courses or upon request. This Handbook is a supplementary text in ED 2162, Foundations of Education, where official application is made to the teacher education program. It will be used by students throughout their professional education sequence. This information is also available in checksheet and handout form from the Office of Teacher Education.
