Dr. Steven Betts, Chairman

Dr. Betts chairs the School of Music and teaches Piano and Piano Pedagogy. Dr. Betts received his B.A. from MidAmerica Nazarene College in 1982; M.M. in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, Wichita State University, 1985; and Ph.D. in Music Education (Piano Pedagogy), University of Oklahoma, 1995. He enjoys raquetball, reading, baking, and spending time with his wife, Doris.

Prof. Rebekah Ambrosini

Rebekah Ambrosini received her B.M. and M.P.A. from Oklahoma City University. She has served on the voice faculties of Molloy College, Oklahoma City University, and the University of Oklahoma where she was also a Doctoral Fellow. The contralto is a regular soloist with many major American symphonies and has performed leading roles with national and international opera companies. Mrs. Ambrosini delights in training young singers, traveling and spending time with her husband and children.

Dr. D. Brent Ballweg

"Dr. B" conducts the SNU Chorale, Women's Chorus, and Choral Society. Other teaching assignments include courses in conducting and music history. He received his masters and doctorate in choral conducting, respectively, from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Dr. Ballweg enjoys playing golf, and with his wife, Susan, likes to travel, hike, and scuba dive.

Prof. Jim Graves

Jim Graves directs the University Singers and Men's Chorus along with teaching courses in music theory. He is a multi-faceted vocal artist, arranger, and educator and has performed as a jazz and pop soloist in a variety of venues. He has a B.M.E. from Boise State University in Idaho, and a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting and Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. Jim and wife Liz enjoy time with their children Sarah and Lane.

Dr. Melissa Lewis

Dr. Lewis teaches courses in Fine Arts, theory, and string pedagogy along with applied viola lessons in the School of Music. She holds a masters and a doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. She enjoys golf, reading, and scuba diving with her husband Chuck.

Dr. Phil Moore

Dr. Moore conducts the SNU Symphonic Band and Jazz Band, coaches various instrumental chamber groups, and teaches conducting and methods in music education. He holds the B.M.E. from Southern Nazarene University, and the M.M.E. and D.M.A. from the University of Oklahoma. He was the Instrumental Director at Bethany Public Schools from 1974 to 1981, and has been at SNU since 1981, serving as Chairman from 1999 to 2008. He also serves as Director of the Festival Orchestra at Crossings Community Church. He and his wife Donna enjoy working in the yard and spending time with their daughter Lindsay and son-in-law Ken in Washington D.C.

Holding a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Oklahoma, Mark Reighard is a gifted performer and teacher, at home both in the music theory classroom and on the stage. He holds university audiences spell-bound with his blend of humorous arrangements and classical repertoire. He enjoys biking and traveling with his wife and son. |

Prof. Ken Rosfeld

Prof. Ken Rosfeld, serving as "Professional in Residence," teaches the music business related courses. He has been professionally involved in the recording studio business in Oklahoma City since 1989 and has been a recording business owner since 1995. He enjoys black and white photography, architecture, art history, and spending time with his wife and son. |
