Psychology as a Mission
Our Christian commitment is accompanied by the desire to help others, and compassion for the needy and outcasts echoes throughout the New Testament. Likewise, Jesus' concern for the poor and hurting is clear. We firmly believe that pursuing a career in psychology can augment your mission as a Christian. The discipline of psychology can help you become equipped to be His expression of love in service. The knowledge and skills you will gain through psychological inquiry can help you serve others competently, and psychological insight can provide an effective means of alleviating suffering and influencing others.
Throughout our program, we encourage you to formulate a personal interpretation of human behavior that is compatible with a Christian concept of personality and is supported by the experimental data of sound scientific psychology. Our students receive thorough undergraduate training in psychological skills and methods, which are useful in paraprofessional application of psychology and other related fields. Some students choose to couple psychology with another vocation such as ministry, missions, school counseling and guidance, medicine, nursing, business, or teaching.
Regardless of your particular interests within the field, our faculty members in psychology are dedicated to helping you fulfill your vocation. They will challenge you to learn what it means to be a Christian and a scholar, and they invite you to join together in a supportive learning community that fosters both spiritual and intellectual development.
