The Office of Student Development

The Student Development area exists to help students succeed at college, to discover and develop skills that will maximize their educational experience and prepare them for making contributions in their life beyond the college years.

Our intention is to assist students as they orient to the university experience, and to provide opportunities for building meaningful relationships with faculty, staff and other students. SNU Student Development seeks to empower students to create a positive, energetic community life, wherein students are able to identify themselves as contributing shapers of the community. Through involvement in numerous student organizations and activities, students can develop their skills at project planning, implementation and team building.

One of the important contributors to interpersonal skill development is the experience of being a residential student. A student in residence is more likely to graduate, and also reports a greater satisfaction with their educational experience. The Student Development administrative area provides the administrative service, staff selection and training, as well as programs for students in the four traditional residence halls and three apartment living facilities.

We are invested in services that enhance students’ success in college that center around the principle of wellness. We offer students quality, professional and confidential counseling services and also a student health center. Both areas are staffed with professional, licensed staff and supervised interns.

Helping students gain employment while in college and also prepare for entering the job market beyond their college years is the focus of the Career & Student Employment Center. Students gain valuable assistance in interviewing, resume preparation, and networking at various career fairs.

The Webster Commons is both a facility and a home to a variety of services to students. Students can access mail services, two food service areas, meeting rooms for student groups, and the University Store, in addition to many of services detailed above.

Students can also find assistance in securing student ID cards, gaining accurate chapel attendance credit, and find answers to questions about a variety of campus resources. Our staff encourages and seeks student feedback regarding campus services and their educational experience.

We believe the college years can be a time where students can be contributors as well recipients in their educational process. Whether the learning experience is in or outside the classroom, SNU believes that students can invest themselves to shape the future.
