Why should I give to SNU?
The reasons for making a gift are personal to each donor. Perhaps working with students through the years makes you want to help support scholarships through The SNU Fund. Perhaps you would like to contribute directly to an academic department or a sports team that you feel is important to support. All gifts make a difference in the lives of SNU students.
-
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Your gift qualifies for tax-deduction in accordance with IRS regulations during the calendar year that you make your gift. You will receive a gift receipt for your files. Consult your tax professional for more information.
-
How much should I donate?
Every gift, no matter the amount, is important to the future of each student at SNU
-
Can I specify how my contribution is used?
Yes, as the donor you specify how the gift will be used. You may select from a variety of funds that support people and programs across the entire campus.
Some funding opportunities that appeal to many donors include the SNU Fund, which provides scholarship funding that impacts all students, or The Angel Scholarship Fund, which is used specifically to keep students in school who are facing extraordinary financial situations.
-
Can I make a gift in honor or in memory of someone?
Yes, you may select the “Tribute” option on the gift and provide the appropriate recognition information. We will notify the person or their family of your gift.
-
What are my payment options?
There are many ways to make your gift. You may donate cash, check, credit card or through automatic payroll deduction. If you choose to utilize payroll deduction, you can set up your monthly deduction for a specified or indefinite amount of time. If you’d like to spread payments over several years, or if you’re considering a gift of stock or a planned gift, please call us at (405) 491-6311 or email us at snugiving@snu.edu.
-
Where do I send my gift?
You can make your gift on our secure, online giving page www.snu.edu/give or mail a check to Southern Nazarene University, Attn. University Relations, 6729 NW 39th Expwy, Bethany OK 73008
If you are an SNU employee and you’d like to use payroll deduction, email snugiving@snu.edu and we will provide you a payroll contribution form.
-
How can I make an electronic fund transfer?
SNU accepts electronic payments directly from your bank account for a single gift or a monthly reoccurring gift. Gifts may be made through our secure website link at www.snu.edu/give.
-
How can I give a stock gift?
The IRS indicates that the donation credit is on the day the securities are in possession by the charity. If the stock is held in a brokerage account, please provide the following information for an electronic transfer to your broker:
Charles Schwab
DTC number: 0164
SNU Account #: 83611509If this is the first time to make a stock gift to SNU, please provide your broker with SNU’s employer ID which is 73-0587210.
IMPORTANT: Because a donor’s name is generally not included with an electronic stock/securities transfer, please notify the Office of University Relations that a transfer is being made, what type of stock and the number of shares. Please call Vanette Bell at 405-491-6311 or email snugiving@snu.edu

What if I or my spouse works for a company with a matching gifts program?
Your gift may double or even triple if you or your spouse’s company has a matching gifts program. Please check with the human resources department for program specifics and paperwork.
Should your company require a matching gift claim form, please complete the employee portion and forward it to: Southern Nazarene University, Attn. Advancement Services, 6729 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008.
If you have questions or need an online confirmation form, please contact Annette McElroy, Director of Advancement Services.
