[Bethany, OK] - Southern Nazarene University’s Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (MAEL) program is excited to reintroduce Oklahoma City Public Schools as an educator partnership with local school districts. The MAEL program has enjoyed a successful collaboration with Oklahoma City Public Schools in the past, as well as other school districts, including Putnam City, Bixby, Owasso, and Claremore public schools. Partnering with Oklahoma City Public Schools furthers SNU’s mission to make quality education more accessible.
The School Partnerships Program was developed in response to Oklahoma’s shortage of teachers and administrators. It was established to help make an advanced education degree more accessible to educators in Oklahoma. These partnerships offer teachers and administrators the opportunity to pursue an affordable Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, a prerequisite for principal certification.
“Dr. Polk and her administrative team have been so enthusiastic about this partnership and a great help,” says MAEL Program Director Julia Monroe of Oklahoma City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jamie C. Polk. “We are looking forward to bringing this amazing program back to Oklahoma City Public Schools.”
This partnership program is unique for many reasons, including the fact that courses will be taught, in part, by staff from Oklahoma City Public Schools. Participants receive a 30% tuition discount, making pursuing a master’s degree more accessible for local educators. A master’s degree through the MAEL program is beneficial as it also covers principal and superintendent certification in one degree.
