FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Bethany, Okla.] - This summer, Southern Nazarene University sent 65 students on six mission trips through SNU In Missions (SIMS). Since 2012, SIMS has equipped students to serve in ministries across the United States and around the world, including medical clinics, sports camps, children's outreach, and more. This year's teams served in Portugal, Spain, Eswatini, Brazil, and Arizona.
After applying to participate in SIMS, students are selected through an interview process and placed on teams based on their skills, interests, and experience. Before departing, they complete training in areas such as cross-cultural awareness and practical ministry skills.
Kezia Weaver, SIMS Coordinator, says, “SIMS started with the hope of introducing students to Nazarene Missions across the world. On these trips, students are offered the opportunity to explore their calling and what it means to live out the Great Commission in a new world and culture. We believe that SIMS is a great opportunity for students to get out of their comfort zones and see what God has in the world for them. Each year, students come back with incredible stories of how God moved. Some found clarity in their vocation, some were baptized for the first time, and some have moved to the mission field. No matter where students go, they always come back seeing God move in a new way and with a new community here at SNU.”
