FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Bethany, OK] - Southern Nazarene University (SNU) is excited to announce a new online Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program. The program will be offered through SNU’s College of Professional and Graduate Studies as an accelerated program, with students taking one five-week course at a time and graduating in as little as 18 months.

The new program explores key areas such as Developmental Psychology, Research Methods, Social Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology while helping students strengthen essential skills in communication, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making. The online and accelerated nature of the program fits the busy lifestyles of adults balancing work, family, and other responsibilities, offering a quality degree in an accessible format.

Program Developer Kim Hawkins, an SNU alumna and former Assistant Director of Graduate Programs in Counseling at SNU-Tulsa, says the program is a great option for people curious about people and an excellent foundation for careers and continued education in master’s or doctoral programs. Some career outcomes for Bachelor of Arts in Psychology graduates include case manager, behavioral analyst, and market researcher.

Graduates of the program who want to pursue more advanced careers in counseling or psychology will be prepared to apply to master's programs, such as the Master of Arts in Applied Psychology or the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology offered at SNU.

The new Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program has an anticipated start date of September 23, 2026, with prerequisite courses of General Psychology and Developmental Psychology available in July and August 2026, respectively, for those who need to take them.
