Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program
The McNair Scholars Program at SNU assists SNU undergraduates who are first-generation students meeting certain income criteria and others from groups underrepresented in graduate studies to build the skills and confidence required to pursue a doctoral degree. This competitive program targets student scholars who demonstrate sound academic performance, strong potential for success in graduate school, and the intent to pursue a career in which a doctorate is required.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- First generation and income eligible student OR a member of an underrepresented group African American, Hispanic, Native American or Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
- Must have completed 56 credits by the time of initial entry into the program
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of: 3.0*
- Must express a desire to attain a Ph.D
* GPA's of less than 3.0 may be considered under extraordinary circumstances as space allows
