Graduate Degree Programs in Counseling and Psychology
Support others and thrive in this rewarding career.
SNU offers two paths in Counseling and Psychology. Students can earn a Master of Arts in Applied Psychology, which is widely applicable to many helping professions, or a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, which leads to licensure in the state of Oklahoma.

Built-in Support Systems
Students complete their coursework with a cohort of peers. Your classmates are a source of support, inspiration, and fellowship while in school and a powerful network as you move toward graduation. These dedicated future leaders will form the backbone of your professional contacts.

Expert Faculty
Our faculty are counselors, clinical directors, experts, and practitioners with broad real-world experience. Dr. Scott Secor, program director and SNU alum, also serves as the Clinical Director for Renew Counseling. Admission is competitive, but students find purpose and a higher calling within this excellent program.

Community Connections
Renew Counseling Center is the primary clinical training facility for graduate students. Students pursuing the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology will train internally for one year at Renew Counseling Center during their second year in the program. Renew also offers monthly CEU training, PCIT certification, and play therapy training for community clinicians.

"The Graduate Programs in Counseling at SNU focuses on ensuring that upcoming clinicians address their own personal traumas, biases, and limitations. It encourages you to not only evolve as a clinician, but also to evolve as a person. My favorite quote from a professor in the program was, 'Great therapists have a therapist.' This program prepares individuals for licensure. I am so grateful for the environment that the GPC promotes."

About SNU and Our Accreditations
SNU is committed to excellence. As a regionally accredited university, we offer a rigorous education that other schools and employers respect. That means your transfer credits will likely follow you should you change schools.

"Thank you all for the education, guidance, and work the GPC helped me do within myself while in the program. It truly gives me a 'secure base' from which to work from. When I am in that moment where I find I do not know what to do next, I lean into [my client’s] suffering, rather than away and am not afraid of what I find there. Instead, I am often humbled by and changed by it."
