Growing Opportunity: Natali’s Story

When Natali Awasarmal first arrived in the United States from India in 2015 at eight years old, nearly everything felt new - the culture, the accents, even the rhythms of daily life. But one thing had already taken root in her life: a legacy of faith.

Missionaries came to her family’s region in India many years ago, Natali explains. “They built schools, hospitals, and churches. My grandparents went to the schools they built, and my parents eventually pioneered ministries around India.” Eventually, her family moved to the United States for her father to attend seminary.

Today, that legacy of faith has led Natali to Southern Nazarene University.

Now a sophomore majoring in graphic design and mass communication with a minor in theology, Natali has found many ways to serve and lead on campus. She is the Historian for SALT (Student Activities Leadership Team), helping launch a new digital yearbook that will preserve memories and stories for future SNU students.

But what has made the biggest difference for Natali isn’t just the opportunities, it’s the community.

“When I first visited, I just felt a peace and comfort here,” she says, sensing a natural connection to the campus community.

Behind that experience is the faithful generosity of people like you who believe in students like Natali.

“I just thought it was a very beautiful thing. Honestly, the people who contribute and the scholarships we receive as PK’s are a big reason I’m here,” she shares. “Being a pastor’s kid…I’m grateful for the people who have donated, because I’m one of the fruits of that.”

Because of faithful partners, Natali is learning, leading, and preparing for the future.

And because of you, many more stories like hers can grow.
