Biography
Dr. Claudia Otto joined SNU in 2025 as the Director of the Master of Arts in Administration of Special Education (MAASE) program. She has held various roles in the education sector, including Special Education English Teacher at Ponca City Public Schools, Disability Services Specialist at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, Clinical Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University, and Oklahoma Transition Teams Coordinator at the University of Oklahoma. Assisting in professional development and special education processes and paperwork, she also served her state as a Special Education Facilitator and consultant for public schools, technology centers and various organizations who work with students with disabilities.
She is passionate about teaching, enjoys working with adult learners and faculty; she strives to foster a nurturing, shared community that goes beyond academics and is driven by spiritual well-being and learning. With a strong focus on diversity and community outreach, Claudia is passionate about creating equitable and effective learning environments for students with disabilities, particularly those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Being of Mexican descent, she has a unique understanding of cultural awareness, serving the Oklahoma Hispanic community with bilingual trainings and translations. Claudia endeavors to ensure that learning is accessible in an equitable, appropriate, and fair manner to the student population at large.
Hobbies and Fun Facts:
Spending time with family and friends (mother of 2), music/playing the piano, sewing, cooking/baking, riding 4-wheelers, lived in London, England for 4 years (5th–8th), speaks 3 languages
