Biography
Dr. Wrege joined Southern Nazarene University (SNU) in the spring of 2026. He earned his Ph.D. in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Florida in 2025, where he investigated how prescribed fires can impact wetland invertebrate communities. He eagerly anticipates exploring questions related to these research topics in Oklahoma and at QERC.
Dr. Wrege is passionate about seeing the intersection between faith and science, especially via the diversity of living organisms and our interactions with creation. His prayer is that his students would wrestle with deep and existential questions as they see the beauty of creation and the brokenness of this world, turning to Christ in wonder and seeing their need for dependence on Him.
Dr. Wrege teaches Organismal Biology, Cells and Systems (lab), Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, General Ecology, and rotating field courses such as Flora and Fauna of Oklahoma, Limnology, GIS, and Insect Ecology.
