Prof. Joshua Achipa

Director, Associate Professor

SNU Library

Joshua Achipa is the library Director at R. T. Williams Learning Resources Center a responsibility he has held for the last 5 years adding up to almost 30 years in the library. His experience as the Reference and instruction librarian has helped him as he handles the new position.

In his professional involvement beyond our campus, Joshua has been involved with the Association of Christian librarians for more than 30 years. He is currently serving as a director at large in the organization. He has occasionally been involved with America Library Association, Amigos library services and Community of Oklahoma Instruction Librarians.

One of his fun things to do every Spring break is to discover Oklahoma. He drives his family to a new town to discover towns such as Eda, Weatherford, Lawton and do something fun there. He also likes a good road trip most summers to visit national monuments, presidential libraries or any other historical site. He still likes to run a couple times a week for just a few miles and walk/hike as much as possible.

Joshua earned a master’s degree in library science from Penn West University, formerly Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He did an internship for four months in the National Agricultural Library in the Washington area to complete his master’s degree in library science in 1996. Before that he attended some Christian colleges including Kenya Highlands University where he studied theology and Christian education. He has been residing in Yukon, Ok with his family of six. His wife and son have already graduated from Southern Nazarene university.
