Kira Walkup is originally from Texas and moved to Oklahoma City as a young adult. She attended Oklahoma City University for undergrad and graduated with a biomedical degree. After spending a short stint in medical research, she realized she had a passion for physiology. This led her to get a graduate degree from Southern Nazarene University in exercise science. Her interests are in how the world of biology and kinesiology function synergistically. She is married to her wonderful husband Michael Walkup. They share 3 kids together who keep their home loud, crazy and a lot of fun. She is currently working on her doctorate in sports nutrition. Her hobbies are baking, very light homesteading and she is always trying to learn a new skill to keep her neuroplasticity strong!  She loves bringing creative, fun ideas to her classroom, playing with her kids and the everlasting challenge of keeping her vehicle clean with small children. So far she is losing that challenge.
