Christine Guter is a jazz vocalist, pianist, and studio singer known for her rich tone, wide range, and versatility, having collaborated with legendary artists such as Rosemary Clooney, Diane Schuur, Maynard Ferguson, Mercer Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Mel Torme, Bobby McFerrin, and Darmon Meader. She serves as Director of Vocal Jazz at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach, where she directs the award-winning ensemble Pacific Standard Time and teaches jazz and classical voice, jazz piano, and jazz theory. A professional vocalist in the Los Angeles area, she has recorded on dozens of major Hollywood film soundtracks including Disney’s Wish, Hocus Pocus 2, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Mulan, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Sing!, Star Trek Beyond, Despicable Me 2, The Lorax, and more. An internationally active adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor, she has led numerous All-State and Honor Choirs, presented at major music education conferences, serves on the board of the California Alliance for Jazz, is Vocal Jazz R&S Chair for California ACDA, and was honored with the 2018 DownBeat Magazine Jazz Education Achievement Award.

The SNU Vocal Jazz Festival is a non-competitive festival, designed to showcase vocal jazz in and around Oklahoma.

Area high schools and middle schools will get a chance to perform on stage in Herrick Auditorium. They will then receive a clinic from a world class jazz artist and educator before going into SNU’s state of the art recording studio to professionally record one of their pieces.

The Final Concert begins at 7:30 PM in Herrick Auditorium. Anyone who would like to participate will be allowed. The University Singers will then perform followed by our incredible guest artist/clinician.
