New Students Prepare for Success at SNU’s Spring NSI
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Bethany, Oklahoma] - Southern Nazarene University will launch the Spring 2026 edition of its New Student Institute (NSI) on Monday, January 5 for traditional undergraduate students. The two-day experience includes new student check-in and verification, interactive and informative seminars, and multiple opportunities for incoming scholars to connect with fellow students, faculty, and campus resources.
A longstanding tradition at SNU, New Student Institute is intentionally designed to simplify the transition into traditional university life and help students feel confident as they continue their academic journeys. This semester, forty incoming students will participate in NSI, where they will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with academic advisors, explore campus facilities, and engage with the broader SNU community. Students are also encouraged to attend popular winter campus events, including home basketball games and The Big Chill—an all-campus “welcome back” celebration for students featuring snacks, karaoke, painting, and a variety of interactive activities. The Big Chill will take place on Friday, January 9, at 7 p.m. in the SNU Coffee Shop.
“NSI introduces new students to the people, places, traditions, and resources that make SNU home to so many,” says NSI Director Angie Milford. “One of the most meaningful parts of NSI is watching students experience the campus and community for the very first time. We are excited and eager for their arrival, hope they feel genuinely welcomed, and believe their first days on campus will be both impactful and extremely memorable.”
New Student Institute will begin with student check-in and verification at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 5, and conclude with the NSI Wrap Up at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, held in the President’s Dining Room in Webster Commons.
