Some seeds are planted with intention. Others are planted before we even realize what they will become.

At Southern Nazarene University, we often hear stories of transformation,  but some of the most meaningful ones are only fully understood in hindsight.

For Patti Milford, SNU was not just a place she attended. It became part of a much larger story.

A Story Still Unfolding

Patti’s journey with SNU began early—before she could fully see what God was doing.

“I came to SNU as a teenager, not realizing at the time that God would use SNU to shape my life and the lives of my future sons.”

That is often how growth begins,  not with full understanding, but with a step forward. A decision. An opportunity. A season that, at the time, feels ordinary.

But over time, those moments reveal something more.

Provision Beyond What We Expect

Looking back, Patti sees a pattern of provision.

“God has provided for me, and my sons, through SNU over and over - far beyond just an education.”

At SNU, we believe that education is never the end goal. It is part of something greater:  the formation of character, the strengthening of faith, the preparation for a calling, and an impact that extends into families and future generations.

Sometimes, the seeds planted here do not just affect one life;  they shape many.

A Rhythm of Remembrance

For Patti, giving back is not just about supporting SNU. It is about remembering.

“Giving to SNU through a monthly automatic donation for me is a reminder of God’s providence and care.”

Each month, her gift becomes something more than a transaction. It becomes a rhythm,  a pause, a reflection, and a moment to recognize what God has done and what He continues to do.

Trusting What We Cannot Yet See

“Seeing my gift come out of my account each month reminds me that I serve a God who takes care of my today and also is looking ahead to my future.”

That is the heart of faithful planting. Not giving because we see immediate results, but giving because we trust the One who brings the growth.

At SNU, we see that kind of faith lived out every day in our students stepping into the unknown, in our alumni investing in what shaped them, and in our families trusting that what is planted today will matter tomorrow.

A Reminder That Remains

“It’s a monthly reminder of God’s faithfulness.”

And in many ways, that is what this season is about.

Not just planting. Not just giving. But remembering that God is faithful, that what He begins, He sustains, and that what is planted in faith will grow in His time.
