Veterans Day Wreath Laying Ceremony and Reception

Join Southern Nazarene University as we gather to honor the courage, service, and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans. Our annual Veterans Day Observance and Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at the SNU Soldiers Monument, “Tears from a Grateful Heart,” located on the Bud Robinson Mall.

This meaningful event will include remarks from university and community leaders, as well as a special tribute to those who have served in defense of freedom.

Guest Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel Peter Plank (Army National Guard, Retired)

Lieutenant Colonel Peter Plank is an SNU alumnus, Bethany City Council representative, and Veterans Affairs Officer with the Liberty Jump Team—a local veterans service organization dedicated to honoring WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans. Lt. Col. Plank helps lead efforts to take veterans back to Normandy to commemorate the D-Day landings and pay tribute to those who fought for liberty across Europe.

11:00–11:30 a.m. – Veterans Day Observance & Wreath Laying Ceremony
Location: SNU Soldiers Monument – “Tears from a Grateful Heart” sculpture, Bud Robinson Mall

11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. – Veterans Day Reception
Location: Hearth Room, Marchant Hall (2nd Floor)
Join us immediately following the ceremony for a come-and-go reception hosted by the SNU VETS Center staff. Connect with veterans, students, and community members as we share in gratitude and fellowship.
