SNU To Honor High Achieving Scholars With Kairos Event
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Bethany, OK] — Southern Nazarene University will host its annual Kairos Scholar event on March 6, 2026 at 1 p.m. in the President’s Dining Room of the Webster Commons on SNU’s Bethany campus. This invitation-only event will feature the presenting of four awards—one full-ride scholarship covering tuition, general fees, as well as room and board, and three additional scholarships that cover the cost of tuition to SNU.
Jamie Salazar, Executive Director for Admissions and Operations, College for Undergraduate Studies, says of the event, “Southern Nazarene University is proud to recognize students whose academic excellence reflects years of dedication, curiosity, and hard work. Beyond strong performance in the classroom, these students have shown a commitment to leadership, service, and making a meaningful impact as they pursue their passions in higher education.”
Applicants for the Kairos Scholars award must be first-time and full-time students who apply and are accepted to SNU, hold a minimum high school GPA of 3.5, and score greater than or equal to 30 on the ACT or 1390 on the SAT. Applicants must also display a pattern of leadership and service, strong high school academic achievement, and involvement in community, church, and work activities. A letter of recommendation and two essays are also required as part of the application process.
The Kairos Event on March 6th will feature a word from a number of SNU staff and faculty, Kairos candidate interviews with SNU faculty, and an opportunity for scholars to take professional headshots. During the interviews and headshots, parents of students will have the opportunity to speak with university and admissions representatives and learn more about SNU while enjoying a warm beverage in the SNU Coffee Shop.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. on March 6th in the President’s Dining Room of the Webster Commons at SNU. The afternoon will conclude with a word from previous Kairos winners and participants, as well as SNU President Dr. Keith Newman. The deadline for application is February 9, 2026.
