SNU to Host Vocal Jazz Festival

[Bethany, OK] - On April 13, Southern Nazarene University will host an all-day Vocal Jazz Festival beginning at 8:00 a.m. in Herrick Auditorium. This noncompetitive showcase celebrates vocal jazz talent from across Oklahoma and will feature performances by local middle and high school students, SNU’s University Singers, and guest artist Christine Guter.
Following their performances on the Herrick Auditorium stage, participating middle and high school students will take part in a clinic led by world-class jazz artist and educator Christine Guter. She currently serves as Director of Vocal Jazz at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. Her distinguished career includes collaborations with Rosemary Clooney, Mel Tormé, and Mercer Ellington, along with featured work on the soundtracks of Mulan, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The festival will conclude with a final concert beginning at 7:30 p.m., featuring a performance by SNU’s University Singers followed by a featured set from Christine Guter.
