
Dr. John Cossel to Visit Southern Nazarene University September 11–12

[Bethany, OK] – Southern Nazarene University (SNU) Department of Biology partnering with the Division of Cultural & Communication Studies proudly announces Dr. John Cossel, a distinguished professor of biology and chair of the Biology Department at Northwest Nazarene University will be on campus 11-12 September to share his experience and personal photography of nearly two decades chasing frogs in the neotropics. Dr. Cossel is also a QERC (SNU's Quetzal Education Research Center, San Gerardo De Dota, Costa Rica) professor who teaches a herpetology module for the Tropical and Sustainability class in the Spring semester in Costa Rica and leads the lowlands trip.
SNU is celebrating 30 years of QERC so Dr. Cossel will be sharing about his work there. He will be speaking on "Frogging in the Neotropics" in a seminar for the STEM division, 12 September, 1 p.m. in Beaver Hall, room 102 (4115 N Peniel, Bethany), where he will share in more detail about two recent projects focusing on the alpha taxonomy of Poison Frogs and Isthmian Treefrogs. His talk will include images, stories, and an overview of the work he has conducted with students. The talk will be followed by a time for Q&A.
Dr. Cossel will also be a guest in our Digital Photography class (Division of CCS), Friday, 12 September, 10-10:50 a.m. in Herrick 314 (6749 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany), where he will share his personal photography of multiple species while sharing stories and an overview of the work.
His Amphibians and Reptiles in Low and High-Key Photographs are currently being displayed in the J.D & Mary West Science Laboratory Building (4105 N Peniel, Bethany) on the campus of Southern Nazarene University. The public is invited to attend the sessions and visit the photo display.
