Equestrian Team Member Qualifies for National Competition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Bethany, Okla.]—Southern Nazarene University congratulates Isaac Nowakowski, Freshman, who recently qualified for the 2026 Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic for Amateurs. Hosted by the United States Hunter Jumper Association, the Classic is a prestigious three-round competition for adult amateur riders split into west and east regions. The competition tests riders on both their ability to navigate a challenging course of jumps with precision, and their overall riding style and control, with jumps set at 3 feet high.
To qualify for the Classic, riders must have earned a first-, second-, or third-place finish in one of several designated adult equitation or medal classes during the qualifying period. These classes require riders to demonstrate their skills over jumps ranging from 2 feet 9 inches to 3 feet 3 inches. Riders must also hold an active USHJA Amateur membership at the time of the competition.
Coach Debby Letham of the SNU Equestrian program offers her words on Isaac and his accomplishment, saying, “He just has a great feel for riding. He has a lot of God-given talent and ability, but he is also somebody that is motivated and steps up to the plate. He certainly makes my job easier.”
Dr. Steve Betts, Vice President for Enrollment and Student Success, says, “We congratulate Isaac on this significant achievement and are overjoyed to have him as part of the SNU Equestrian Team for the next four years.”
The competition will be held from October 28th to November 1st at Desert Horse Park in Thermal, California.
